Pears soap rebranding (Spec) - 2023

Pears is a legendary brand that has existed for well over two centuries, and one of the original core brands of the Unilever group, but, it has lost it’s way, increasingly seen as a soap for the elderly with packaging and branding that haven’t been revisited since the early 2000’s. Recently the brand has seen an uptick in popularity with it’s gelatine texture seen as a perfect option for use in the “soap” eyebrows trend on tiktok.

I revisited the brands history and discovered that it had always emphasised it’s simplicity, good value, mildness to skin and the luminous transparency (of the soap itself, in contrast to the hard tallow soaps of the era) and I used this as a jumping off point to reimagine the brand for a contemporary, youthful audience.
